Bali Edukasi is an organization working in the fields of education, social, arts and culture, health, and the environment. It was officially established on May 2, 2015, right on Indonesian National Education Day, to commemorate the same values and spirits carried out by the well-known founding father of Indonesian education, Ki Hajar Dewantara, with his three famous principles of the coined Javanese proverb “Ing Ngarso Sung Tulodo, Ing Madyo Mangun Karso, Tut Wuri Handayani”, meaning “those in front should set an example, those in the middle should raise the motivation, and those in the back should give encouragement.”

Bali Edukasi was established in line with the 20+ years of educational experience of the founder and its members. Its vision is to nurture individuals who are well-educated, holistic, competent, and with good character. Character education is the main area of Bali Edukasi, with literacy and technology being the supports. This vision is manifested in three main missions, stated as follows:

  1. Nurturing competent individuals with good character
  2. Promoting socially just, inclusive, and empowering education
  3. Utilizing education, literacy, and technology optimally, effectively, and meaningfully.

Three educational programs are the foci of Bali Edukasi, with various initiatives, namely:

BErkarya (Publication) Program

This is one continuous program from Bali Edukasi, that is BErkarya, meaning “Publication” of works, like books, story books, comics, etc. So far, there are some published works from Bali Edukasi, namely Scabby Dog (a trilingual story book) (2020), Virtual Literacy Club Book (2021), The Little Alien (a bilingual story book) (2022), Edukasi Keliling Negeri untuk Anak-anak Bali (Education for All Children in Bali) Book (2022), Pembelajaran Berbasis Proyek dan Literasi di Konteks Daring (Project-based Learning and Literacy Implementation in the Online Learning Context) Book (2023), Merdeka Belajar: Teori dan Implementasinya di Sekolah (Freedom to Learn: Theory and Implementation in a School Context) (2024) – a success story of how all stakeholders of students, teachers, and Bali Edukasi mentors run an educational project in a unique oldest Moslem remote village in Bali, and A Tale of Three Brothers (2024) – a trilingual storybook. BElajar (Education for All) Program

This is one core of Bali Edukasi program. It is called BElajar, meaning to learn (lifelong) – aiming at the “Education for All” initiative. Since its establishment, Bali Edukasi has been traveling to all nine regions and many remote areas in Bali to help with education for disadvantaged schools, students, and teachers in the region. There are various projects and initiatives under this BElajar program, namely:

    • Pendasbudi (Pendidikan Untuk Generasi Cerdas Berbudi) Program
    • Gemaseni (Gemar Membaca Sejak Dini) Program

    • Pelangi (Pelita Harapan Negeri) Program

BErkreasi (Media Production) Program

Besides helping schools, teachers, and students, and publishing books and stories, Bali Edukasi also produces some media for learning in the virtual context under BErkreasi (Media Production) Program. It creates or shares IG Reels, YouTube shorts and posters, or infographics for learning, for instance, the use of a reading application, quiz, etc. For more details, please read BErkreasi (Media Production) here.

Legally, Bali Edukasi is under the Manik Cendekia Foundation which was established based on the Decree of the Ministry of Law and Security: AHU-0017786.AH.01.04. Year 2018. Scan the QR Code to find out more.

So far, various educational visits to all regencies and cities in Bali have been carried out. Some of Bali Edukasi’s members have also visited national, regional, and international areas.

Bali Edukasi will continue to help more marginalized, disadvantaged, remote, and inclusive students, teachers, and schools to achieve the aim of the 21st-century education as suggested in the global context today while preserving the local wisdom to become more holistic persons. Hopefully, it can continue to help others, especially students, teachers, and others, for a better Indonesia.

Bali Edukasi (BE) adalah sebuah organisasi nirlaba (NGO) yang menggeluti bidang pendidikan, sosial, seni budaya, kesehatan, dan lingkungan. Bali Edukasi resmi berdiri sejak 2 Mei 2015, tepat di Hari Pendidikan Nasional di antara panjangnya perjalanan edukasi pendiri dan penggerak-penggeraknya, baik sebelum maupun sesudah berperan di Bali Edukasi.

Visi Bali Edukasi adalah menumbuhkan banyak individu yang terdidik secara baik dan holistik, yang unggul dan juga berkarakter baik. Pendidikan karakter menjadi area utama Bali Edukasi, dengan literasi dan teknologi menjadi pendukungnya.

Visi tersebut diwujudkan dalam tiga misi utama, sebagai berikut.

  1. Menumbuhkan individu unggul dan berkarakter.
  2. Mewujudkan edukasi yang berkeadilan sosial, inklusif, dan memberdayakan.
  3. Memanfaatkan edukasi, literasi, dan teknologi secara optimal, efektif, dan bermakna.

Sejauh ini, beragam perjalanan edukasi sudah dilakukan. Seluruh kabupaten dan kota di Bali sudah dikunjungi. Beberapa kakak Bali Edukasi – panggilan kepada semua anggotanya untuk kesetaraan – juga sudah mengunjungi area nasional, regional, dan bahkan internasional.
